Part 7: The People of Aad – A Reflection of the End-Time Nation
The story of the people of ‘Aad who were punished is not merely a tale of the past, but a mirror of what lies ahead in the near future. It is a living narrative, breathing in every inch of the destruction that is now unfolding around us. The modern world we proudly celebrate—technological advancements, higher education, global communication networks—is actually repeating the tragic story of the people of Prophet Hud.
Allah S.W.T did not record this story in the Qur’an just for it to be retold. It is a warning! It is a sign of what is about to happen to us, for the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W is now continuing down the path of arrogance and denial of truth.
"Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of people have earned, so He may let them taste some of what they have done, that perhaps they will return [to righteousness]."
(Surah Ar-Rum 30:41)
The People of ‘Aad: Caliphs After the People of Nuh
Allah S.W.T appointed the people of ‘Aad as caliphs after the destruction of the people of Nuh. They were not ordinary people—they were granted extraordinary strength, large bodies, majestic buildings, and a civilisation far beyond their time. Allah S.W.T declares:
"Do you find it strange that a reminder has come to you from your Lord through a man from among yourselves, to warn you? And remember when He made you successors after the people of Nuh, and increased you in stature extensively. So remember the favours of Allah that you may be successful."
(Surah Al-A’raf 7:69)
However, with all those blessings, they became extremely arrogant. They worshipped other gods besides Allah and rejected the call of Prophet Hud. They mocked, challenged, and insulted the truth. This is exactly the same situation happening today.
Truth Rejected Because the Source Is Not 'Qualified'
The religious leaders and intellectuals of the people of ‘Aad rejected Prophet Hud. Not because they didn’t understand, but because they refused to believe that truth could come from someone like Hud. They said:
"Indeed, we see you (O Hud) in foolishness, and indeed, we think you are among the liars."
(Surah Al-A’raf 7:66)
This is the mentality of the modern era—truth is only accepted if it comes from someone with academic titles or status. When truth is delivered by someone outside the mainstream, it is labelled a "conspiracy", "stupidity", "extremism", or "deviation". We often hear, “Ask the experts!”, which is valid, but the reality is we have inherited many errors from previous generations which we believe to be true—but are actually misguided.
Inherited Religion Becomes a Barrier to Truth
The people of ‘Aad rejected Prophet Hud’s call because they were too attached to what they inherited from their ancestors.
"Have you come to us so that we worship Allah alone and abandon what our forefathers worshipped? Then bring us what you promise, if you are indeed among the truthful."
(Surah Al-A’raf 7:70)
Likewise today, many inherit Islam through lineage, without a true spiritual connection to the Lord. Many practice acts of worship without understanding, profess tawhid without realising its essence. And when the call to true tawhid arises, they fiercely reject it. Just like past civilisations, we think we are right, but we are actually upholding many distortions passed down to us.
Challenging Allah and Inviting His Punishment
In their arrogance, the people of ‘Aad challenged Prophet Hud to bring down the punishment. They believed their strength was too great to be destroyed because they believed truth was on their side. They forgot that Allah does not need armies or weapons. His punishment came in the form of mere wind—and it was enough to destroy everything.
"And as for ‘Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind." (Verse 6)
"Which He imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people lying therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees." (Verse 7)
(Surah Al-Haqqah 69:6–7)
Isn’t that enough to shake our hearts?
Severing the Network of Mercy – The Most Dreadful Punishment
Allah S.W.T did not merely destroy their bodies. What is far more terrifying is that He severed them from the network of mercy. They were no longer connected to the Asma' (Names) of Allah. They did not just die—they were cut off from the opportunity to ever return. This is the true meaning of destruction.
"And We saved him (Hud) and those with him by a mercy from Us; and We eradicated those who denied Our signs, and they were not believers."
(Surah Al-A’raf 7:72)
Prophet Hud and the saved group were saved because of mercy. This mercy flows through unseen channels, connected through the soul. Among those channels is the Mahmuda network. The believers are all brethren because of this network—not merely because of genetic lineage or ancestry. The horror of killing a single soul is equated with killing all of mankind.
As Allah declared in Surah Al-Ma’idah:
"Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And Our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, even after that, throughout the land, were transgressors."
(Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:32)
This is because souls and mercy are connected through a divine network—differing only in the closeness of the souls. The disbelievers among the people of Hud were cut off from this connection, permanently, and were destroyed by divine punishment. As a result, they will remain in Hell eternally, for they have been completely severed from mercy. Even the most sinful people—if there remains even a tiny connection—will eventually be forgiven after millennia of punishment. That is why salvation only happens through His mercy.
Today’s Ummah: Repeating the Fate of ‘Aad
Look around us—both in the real world and on social media:
❌ Truth is ridiculed simply because it’s not popular.
❌ Islam is inherited, not lived.
❌ Religious leaders compete for influence, not to uphold tawhid.
❌ People begin to challenge Allah’s law, replacing divine rulings with man-made systems.
And now, there are even those who dare to say:
“If the punishment of Allah truly exists, then bring it upon us!”
Unknowingly, we are calling for our own destruction.
The End Times: Punishment and the Rise of a New Caliphate
The Ummah of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W will not be spared from this cycle. We are merely waiting our turn—and when that moment comes, only the mercy of Allah can save us.
But before that, darkness will come. Destruction will arrive. And only those still connected to Allah’s mercy through true tawhid will be saved.
The people of ‘Aad were punished because they:
❌ Rejected truth simply because the source was not prestigious.
❌ Worshipped inherited tradition, not divine proof.
❌ Looked down upon others.
❌ Challenged Allah openly.
Questions for Us:
📌 Are we repeating their mistakes?
📌 Are we still within the network of mercy—or have we been cut off?
📌 Are we truly Muslim—or just heirs of a religion?
❗ If we do not change, then the punishment of Allah is not a possibility—it is a certainty.
💥 So repent before it’s too late. Believe before mercy is severed. Change before the wind of punishment strikes without warning.
For when that day comes—there is no tomorrow. Only eternal regret.
