Part 6: The People of Noah - Caliphates Erased and Replaced

Every human civilisation goes through the same phases in the journey of caliphate. A nation that was initially faithful eventually exceeds limits, rejects the reminders of Allah S.W.T, and finally receives due punishment after warnings have been delivered. This cycle has never changed—from the time of Prophet Nuh (Noah) to the present-day nation of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

Allah S.W.T says in Surah Yunus 10:13:

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا الْقُرُونَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَمَّا ظَلَمُوا وَجَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَمَا كَانُوا لِيُؤْمِنُوا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْقَوْمَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ

"And indeed, We destroyed generations before you when they wronged, and their messengers had come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe. Thus do We recompense the criminal people."

(Surah Yunus 10:13)

The People of Nuh: A Destroyed Caliphate

The people of Prophet Nuh represented a highly advanced civilisation. They possessed technology and sophistication far beyond what we have today. But all that advancement was meaningless when they chose to reject the reminders and persist in injustice. This is the clearest example that Allah S.W.T presents in the Qur’an—so we can reflect on the same cycle that is repeating in our time: the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

Allah S.W.T says in Surah Saba’ 34:45:

بَلْ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَمَا بَلَغُوا۟ مِعْشَارَ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ رُسُلِى فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ

"But those before them denied, and they (these people now) have not attained a tenth of what We had given them, but they (still) denied My messengers. So how (terrible) was My reproach!"

(Surah Saba’ 34:45)

📌 A shocking fact here is that Allah S.W.T states that our achievements today do not even reach one-tenth of what was granted to earlier nations like the people of Nuh. Yet despite their astonishing advancements, they were still destroyed due to their wickedness. Advancement, therefore, is a test of blessings and luxury—one in which many will fail.

Transgression Beyond All Limits

If the moral collapse of our time is already terrifying, know that the people of Nuh went far beyond that. Adultery, homosexuality, and oppression may be shocking to us today, but their sins were even more depraved.

✔ Theological Injustice – They associated others with Allah and worshipped idols of their own making.

✔ Unthinkable Immorality – Their evil acts reached the point that Allah cut off their ability to reproduce.

✔ Arrogance Against Warnings – They not only rejected the da'wah of Prophet Nuh, but plotted to kill him.

✔ Corrupt Leadership – Refer to verse 23: even their leaders were united in evil.

Allah S.W.T says in Surah Nuh 71:21-23:

قَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًۭا

Nuh said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children do not increase him except in loss.

وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًۭا كُبَّارًۭا

And they conspired an outrageous conspiracy.

وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّۭا وَلَا سُوَاعًۭا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًۭا

And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.'"

(Surah Nuh 71:21-23)

The Repeating Cycle of Collapse – The Story of Nuh as Our Mirror

💡 From the story of the people of Nuh, we observe a recurring cycle in human history, which we have discussed before:

1️⃣ A nation that starts faithful and is entrusted with the caliphate.
2️⃣ They grow arrogant and begin transgressing boundaries.
3️⃣ Allah S.W.T sends prophets and messengers as reminders.
4️⃣ They reject the reminders and continue in injustice.
5️⃣ Allah S.W.T sends punishment and destroys them.
6️⃣ A new generation of caliphs is raised to replace them.

This is the sunnatullah—it happened to the people of Nuh, and it is happening again to us now, as we repeat the same mistakes.

The Fate of the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W

🔴 The Ummah of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W will also go through this cycle!

Today, we are standing at the edge before a great punishment descends. The signs of the end times are clearer than ever:

❌ Immorality is normalised and accepted by society.
❌ Those who stand for truth are mocked and attacked.
❌ The laws of Allah S.W.T are ignored and replaced with man-made systems.

The Prophet Muhammad S.A.W warned that this Ummah would face the same fate as past nations. But there is one major difference:

💡 After the punishment, global leadership will be handed to Imam Mahdi, Prophet Isa, and the believers who remain.

The Prophet S.A.W said:

"At the end of my Ummah, al-Mahdi will emerge. Allah will send down rain for him, the earth will produce its vegetation, wealth will be distributed equally, livestock will increase, and the Ummah will be honoured. He will live for seven or eight (i.e., Hajj seasons)."

(Hadith narrated by Al-Hakim, Mustadrak 4:557 – authenticated by Al-Albani in Silsilah Ahadith As-Sahihah No. 711)

📌 That punishment is near, right before the rise of the final caliphate!

Conclusion: Do Not Repeat the Mistakes of the People of Nuh

📢 We must learn from the story of the people of Nuh. If those who were ten times more advanced than us couldn’t escape Allah’s punishment—what hope is there for us if we repeat their ways?

🔴 Ease or hardship—both are tests. What we perceive as progress may be istidraj (a deceptive respite) that leads to destruction.

💡 History proves that Allah S.W.T never wrongs anyone—but we are the ones who choose the path to our own ruin.

📢 We are not just repeating history. We are writing its final chapter. Can we be the generation that survives it? Or will we also drown with the world we glorified?
